The ivory tower is often said to be the place of ideas and impractical knowledge aloof from most people's lives. But in fact, it engages even with people’s political and social action in the street. Professor Thongchai says he never leaves the streets of Thailand where democracy and social justice are fought over while spending his time as a scholar in the ivory tower in the US. In the style of lecture and conversation, Professor Thongchai will talk about how the desirable future starts with the understandings of the past in a new way.
