The 2013 Arts and Culture Prize laureate will hold a solo exhibition in New York.

This September, Nalini Malani’s In Search of Vanished Blood featured in dOCUMENTA 13 (Kassel, Germany), will be primiered in New York at Gallerie Lelong.

In Search of Vanished Blood is a large-scale multi-media artwork that features video projections filtering across five revolving Mylar cylinders.  The cylinders with reverse painted imagery of Hindu and Western icons move across the wall and create a dynamic shadow play.

“This aesthetic choice to use overlap and simultaneity supports Malani’s intention to offer different perspectives from which to examine the complexities and challenges of cultures meeting”, quotes the gallery in its press release.

The artist is expected to be present for the opening at the gallery which takes place on Friday, September 6th.  A book signing for the new publication The Shadow play as medium of memory will follow the next day.
