The Fukuoka/Kyushu region connects Asia and the Pacific Ocean from east to west, and north to south. Also, it is located as the epicenter of marine cultures where the ocean and land come together. Fukuoka/Kyushu functions as a cultural and academic bond connecting various regional cultures in Asia. (Refer to the conceptual diagram.)
At present, the COVID-19 pandemic has spread globally. The most important thing to consider in a post-COVID world is that each and every one of us come together to strengthen the bonds between the diverse cultural exchanges in Asia to create the foundations for a new Asia. With this 30th anniversary as a new turning point, I would like to work with the citizens of Fukuoka from an academic and educational perspective to build an Asian cultural network that crosses the sea.
