The Fukuoka Prize honors contributions to Asian culture. This year's prize laureates will gather for the award ceremony. We will introduce their outstanding achievements and deliver acceptance speeches by the prize laureates. There will be a celebratory performance by The Seika Girls' High School Band on stage. Also Ms. Nakama Yukie, an actress and a native Okinawan who has appeared on many TV programs about the reconstruction of Shuri Castle, will be the moderator of the ceremony. We will invite you to be present at this moment of joy.

The reconstruction of burnt down Shuri- jô Castle has been progressing with the completion scheduled in the fall of 2026. The Notre-Dame de Paris Cathedral which also suffered extensive damage by fire in 2019, has completed its reconstruction in December last year and now opened for worship and visit. The laureate and discussant will talk about the conservation of cultural heritage by comparing 2 architecture; the Shuri- jô Castle and the Notre Dame Cathedral.

Currently East Asia is drawing a global attention as an area which has achieved the fastest development in the world in the recent history. Vo Trong Nghia is a young architect who takes a lead in the architectural scene of Southeast Asia where dynamic urban development continues. Through selection of his architectural works, Dr. Vo will talk about enjoyment and possibility of architectural spaces built with unique materials such as bamboo, as well as the philosophy of architectural design adapted to subtropical climate and vegetation.
