On September 16th, the Award Ceremony for the Fukuoka Prize 2016 was held.
This year’s ceremony took place at Fukuoka Symphony Hall, ACROS Fukuoka. Long queue formed outside the hall and there was an air of excitement.
The three prize winners took stage from the audience. A warm round of applause filled the hall as the laureates graciously walked up the stage.
Following the presentation of Certificates and Medals by Mr. TAKASHIMA Soichiro, Mayor of Fukuoka City, and Mr. ISOYAMA Seiji, Chair of the Fukuoka City International Foundation, a representative of the Fukuoka residents gave a congratulatory message. When children of the Fukuoka International School presented flower bouquets to the prize winners, the hall burst into a big round of applause.
Part Two of the ceremony started off with the acceptance speeches by the laureates and stage interview, followed by a special collaborative performance by A.R.Raham and Fukuoka Seiryo High school Orchestra. The latter part of the event was held in a more relaxed setting entertaining the viewers.
