The Fukuoka Prize honors the contributions to Asian cultures. The award ceremony will be held with all prize laureates of this year on stage. The laureates will give their acceptance speech and there will be a screening of videos to introduce their outstanding achievements. Please join us at the moment of celebration and joy. There also will be a celebration performance with Chikuzen Hakata Koma (spinning top performance).

This representative work by Mr. Manabe was created in 2008 and presented in more than 30 cities around the world since. It will be re-released as live performances with more modern adjustment. 
This art form explores the relationship between humans and machines by mechanically controlling and copying facial expressions using the face, a low frequency stimulator, myoelectric sensors, and a Wii® remote controller. The artist will give a lecture on his works and participate in the discussion too.

From the late 19th century to the early 20th century, around 27 million people crossed ‘the Bay of Bengal’ which extends over South and Southeast Asia to the migrant laborer sites. Professor Sunil Amrith points out it is important to understand the history relating to immigration such as this in order to consider the environmental issues, such as climate change, Depletion of groundwater and the rising sea level facing in this area.

The diverse works by Kimsooja including sculptures, videos and installations, are said to have a consistent concept of sewing, wrapping and unwrapping. This is something relates to our body and breathing. Kimsooja works on the Asian cultures based in Korea, and currently she is an artist of international renown. Since separation and conflict are becoming more widespread in this current era, the lecture will give us an opportunity to think about the workings of all things in nature, and the harmony and balance of the world through her artworks.
