Laureates of the Fukuoka Prize 2025 have been announced.
The Fukuoka Prize Committee has given final approval to the laureates selected by the Prize Jury.

TAKARA Kurayoshi | Historian
Takara Kurayoshi is a historian who has broken ground in Ryūkyū Islands studies on multiple fronts. He is also a creator and producer in the field of history who has made outstanding contributions, including restoring the main Seiden Hall of Shuri Castle. By combining in-depth analysis of sources, global perspectives on history, dedication to field research, and the ability to plan projects in multiple academic fields, Takara expands Ryūkyū history from an academic area to a practical discipline in the contemporary world.

BAIK Young-seo | Historian
Baik Young-seo is one of South Korea's leading scholars of contemporary Chinese history. He has played a leading role in Humanities and Social Sciences as a thinker who transcends borders and considers East Asia from the perspectives of "core locations" where citizens and people live. As an East Asian, Baik's ideological work provides essential guidelines for tackling complex issues in the contemporary world.
Arts and Culture Prize 2025
VO Trong Nghia | Architect
Vo Trong Nghia is a highly regarded architect who achieves numerous innovative ideas through his works. He integrates Southeast Asian traditions with modern design methods and construction techniques, considers the regional environment and vegetation in structural designs, and utilizes bamboo and wood as building materials. He convincingly advocates for environmentally and ecologically friendly architecture as he explores its role in addressing urban challenges facing Vietnam, which has been going through rapid growth.
